LIMITED tickets remain for an intimate evening of music, cabaret and comedy, during Lyme Regis Fossil Festival.
The concert will be held in aid of local environmental charity, The Word Forest Organisation, at the new ambient and eco-friendly community space, The Driftwood, at Lyme Regis Baptist Church on Friday, May 4. It will tie in with the annual Fossil Festival, which will be held over the weekend of May 5 and 6.
Charity founders Tracey and Simon West, are delighted to present incredible musical talent from alt-acoustic singer, Saskia Griffiths-Moore, laced together with comedy from the charismatic, alternative London comedian, Nathan Jones-Carr.
Saskia’s powerful vocals are gaining her notoriety nationally and internationally, securing regular plays on BBC radio and even won her a recent spot on national TV; think Sandy Denny and Joni Mitchell and you’re on the right track. Saskia has become a regular headliner at folk festivals around the country and is undoubtedly a rising star. Her contemporary talents recently sold out a UK and European tour to launch her second album, ‘Night and Day’.
The carbon footprint created by the production of Saskia’s album was offset by planting trees with Word Forest, who are leading a mission to get urgently needed trees in the ground, build schools and facilitate education, in impoverished communities in Kenya.
Word Forest’s CEO Tracey West, recently founded a groundbreaking women’s tree planting empowerment group, which is also helping to combat social isolation and depression too. Their fast-growing tropical forests are helping the communities to lift themselves out of poverty with commodities from the trees, and also mitigating the devastating effects of climate change, by absorbing CO2 at an exponential rate.
Expect a night of meaningful lyrics, sheer musicianship and witty banter, bound together by a positive message of social change.
Doors open at 7.30pm with a licensed bar available. Tickets cost £7 in advance or £10 on the door and are available at WordForest.org/events, or call Simon on 07896 884 114.
