A Festive Vegan Fayre in Chard!

We were absolutely delighted to host Chard’s inaugural Vegan Fayre on Saturday 20th April at the Guildhall – what an amazing day it was too!

Almost 400 ethical consumers came along to enjoy food, arts, crafts and things of an holistic nature, from almost 40 stallholders, offering a wide array of vegan goods and services. The great attendance was undoubtedly assisted by the two requests for interviews we received from Claire Carter and Trish Campbell on BBC Somerset.

Helen Roberts – our Education Trustee – was the organiser of the event and she did an amazing job of weaving everything together – we cannot express our thanks enough to Helen for dreaming this fundraiser into existence, as it turned out to be the biggest one Word Forest has ever held!

The stallholders were really busy, the visitors were very happy and lots of people asked: “When’s the next vegan fayre? Please say you’re going to do another one in Chard!”

We are indeed: Chard’s Festive Vegan Food, Arts, Craft & Holistic Fayre will be held on Saturday 30th November between 10.30am and 3.30pm. Be sure to pop it in your diary, which is a bit tricky to think about really, as we haven’t even had the summer yet…

One thing’s for sure, there will be lots of animal friendly, ethical goodies on sale and undoubtedly, a wide range of foods for you to enjoy, too.

The list of stallholders at our spring event was very long but it included this bunch of fine vendors:

Catherine: Peace, Love and Bananas, Sheralyn: Teapots Vegan Kitchen, Emma: Vegan Wine Box, Tracey: New Haven Project, Marisa: Chard Eco-Deli, Jasmine: Green & Grainy, Yada and John: Hewood Organics, Jessica: Green Jiva, Catherine: Sage Spirit, Emma: Curious Drinks Company, Kestrel: Nature UK, Mel: Sunshine Bindery and more, oh and of course, The Word Forest Organisation had a presence there too, with the stall manned by our lovely Chair of Trustees, Simon West.

See you in Chard at Christmas, if not before!
