Popular Lyme Regis pub and eatery, The Pilot Boat, will be hosting a three-course vegan fundraising supper for us, on Sunday 1st December!
Our CEO and Chair of Trustees are vegan, as are many of our core team. Whenever we host an event, it’s a joy to serve plant-based food and refreshments, as it’s the very best way to be kind to the planet.
Robin Collyns, manager at The Pilot Boat said: “My daughter Ellie is passionate about environmental issues and she’s really pleased we’re doing this. Word Forest are doing great work to keep climate chaos in check. All coastal communities are at risk of damage from sea rise. We’re hopeful our fundraiser will help to plant at least 240 trees.”
The Pilot Boat has recognised the continuing rise in vegan diners and they have a permanent vegan chef, John Long, to cater for their needs. John loves creating their range of seasonal, plant-based meals and desserts and he has devised a mouth-watering vegan supper, packed with flavour and imagination.
John comments: “It’s amazing to see so many people fighting against climate change and taking responsibility for the survival of our planet. It usually starts in big cities and this is where the media focuses its attention, so it’s very exciting to have this fundraiser happening right on our doorstep and I couldn’t wait to play my part!”

Tracey concludes: “We’re thrilled and so grateful that Robin and John are making such a wonderful contribution to Word Forest. I’m looking forward to giving everyone a little update before we eat, as community screenings of our documentary #TreesAreTheKey are about to be shown in neighbouring Devon and Somerset, and internationally too!”
“The positive impact the charity has made over the past few years, is almost immeasurable but it’s time to seriously raise the bar and make an even bigger difference to our world”.
