It’s 2021, but it’s still winter and times are not easy. That’s why we’re really excited to launch a new collection of beautiful hoodies and sweatshirts, which our brilliantly creative designer Bethany Martin refers to rather wonderfully as ‘organic warmth layers’.
This collection takes us back to our roots (forgive the pun), with designs that focus on the things that make The Word Forest Organisation all that it is; you’ll find prints inspired by trees, of course, but also by the Mothers of the Forest and the rural Kenyan landscape. ‘The Word Forest World’ design, a funky retro-inspired graphic that portrays the work we do is a real celebration of the journey the organisation is continuing to take.
Bethany, who is not only the mastermind behind these designs but donates her time to us for free (thank you so much Bethany, words are just not enough to express how grateful we are!) shares her top picks, saying:
“I think my favourite design is the ‘Leaf Print’ hoodie. For this one I revisited a childhood activity, collecting autumn leaves and using them to create prints with paint, and it’s created a really striking design that evokes our connection with nature.
I also love the ‘Living Tree’ design, a re-worked symbol of the charity in a fluid illustrated style that represents both our Mothers Of The Forest in Kenya and Mother Nature herself, symbolizing how trees are the lifeblood of the planet.”
With a mixture of delicate illustrations and abstract graphics, we hope there’ll be something for everyone in this capsule collection of planet-loving fashion.
Perfect for cosying up in sustainable style, these garments are made by Teemill, so you can rest assured that the cotton is ethically sourced and the production is as ecologically sound as humanly possible. They are all printed on demand here in the UK and sent directly to you. The best bits? Not only do you have a fabulously snug ‘organic warmth layer’, we plant a tree for every one sold and, when you’ve worn it out because you can hardly bear to take it off (this will happen!), you can send it back to Teemill and they will respin it into a new garment.
