There are a handful of reasons why our Report and Accounts 2020-21 has been a little late in production and pretty much all of them start with COV and end in ID.
That said, we are delighted to announce its (slightly later than we hoped) safe arrival!
I read a report recently that touched on some of the body blows the charitable sector has endured over the past 2 years. I want to share this:
Figures have shown that a quarter of charities lost at least 40% of their income in the year from 2019 to 2020. These sorts of financial pressures, coupled with increasing economic inequality and the resulting rise in demand for services, means a very real operational struggle ahead for many organisations.
Salary and Organisational Culture Survey 2021 Report: Charity Comms
On behalf of everyone at The Word Forest Organisation I’m delighted to report that we didn’t experience a drop in our income by 40%, thankfully, we saw it increase by 84%.
That was absolutely a direct result of the hard work and tenacity of our incredible Teams, both in the UK and Kenya. It was also unequivocally down to YOU and our incredible supporter base of members and corporate partners.
For getting our organisation through this tumultuous period:
Thank you also for recommending that friends and family join us or become corporate partners. Every single recommendation is helping us make a huge difference.
You power the beating heart of this #SmallButMighty environmental charity!
Your donations, positive emails and phone calls have helped our Teams push through the countless challenges and curve balls the pandemic threw onto our tracks.
How incredibly kind you are. Gratitude is flowing your way from Kenya – I hope you feel it.
I really hope you enjoy reading our Annual Report – it’s certainly not a boring read with ridiculously small and unreadable balance sheets in it, that I promise you!
It will bring you right up to speed with the day to day post-lockdown lives of the amazing tree planting communities we’re working with in Kenya.
The special report from meteorologist, TV weather presenter and our wonderful Patron, Clare Nasir, is a startling and sobering read. Hear from other members of our Team too and see what we’re doing to mitigate the problems we suspect may well return once more to bite Kenyans. Forearmed is forewarned.
I hope our Report leaves you feeling as inspired as we’ve been whilst compiling it.
Before I go, may I be cheeky enough to ask a small favour?
Please forward it to any friends who are:
- passionate about helping our planet be well – I bet they’ll love our news feed
- seeking an inspirational way to put on a fundraiser for a charity that deserves it
- looking for a fabulous small environmental charity to volunteer for
- inspired by the idea of creating a legacy forest in their name in the future
Sending all best wishes as you reach for the download button and your reading glasses!
Enjoy the report.
