Trees Are the Key Awareness Week 2024: it’s a wrap

Listen to this article:

Time flies by when you’re having fun and over the past week, we had lots of that and the week has whizzed past.

Our mission was to help you forge a deeper connection with trees and the natural spaces that surround you. We really hope you enjoyed the features and articles we posted, as much as we enjoyed creating them. We also hope you’ve learned a thing or two and perhaps indulged in a little tree-based mandala colouring for relaxation purposes, or enjoyed one of our playlists whilst stepping out in a green space in your neighbourhood.

It would be great to find out how you celebrated Trees Are The Key Awareness Week and to learn whether you were tempted to cook a bite or two from our Celebrity Inspired Vegan Recipe Book. If so, we’d be thrilled to see photos of what you made!

If you’ve watched our documentary #TreesAreTheKey already, you’ll know precisely how much hard work is being done by the tree planters we work with in Kenya. The difference they’re making to their community and our planet is amazing.

Tracey West, our CEO comments: “The planet desperately needs more trees and we’re completely committed to making that happen in Kenya. Our amazing team went all out to provide a week of informative, stimulating and entertaining tree and environment-based pieces. We hope you now look at trees with a more adoring gaze. They are quite literally life-savers and humankind must do all it can to increase their number.”

Our Chair of Trustees, Simon West, adds: “Sometimes it’s hard to stay positive about the environment and our future. I hope the upbeat nature of all our content during the week has lifted your spirits a little and given you hope that we really can make a difference. The science is clear, that if most of us make the changes to our lifestyles, then the future can look very bright for us. We already have all the ‘tools in our box’ to mitigate climate chaos and create a better, sustainable, more equal world for everyone.”

Keep an eye out for the final posts on WordForest.org/week later today, where we’ll announce the winners of our competitions to win trees planted in your name! There’s still time to enter! Here’s the quiz and here’s the mandala creative challenge.

Good luck!

Tracey, Simon and the Team
