It’s an awe inspiring, fact-packed and perfectly timed 64-page COP special. It has features on everything from biodiverse wind and solar farms to why our economic system needs to change and living the dream with self-sufficiency, plus a whole big bunch of up to date stats and commentary from people in the know.
Additionally, on page 10 you’ll see our CEO, Tracey West featured in a piece on the People Environment Achievement Awards (P.E.A. Awards) for being a Positive Vegan. She scooped the award a few weeks ago at a stylish eco-event in London where all the food was mouth-wateringly delicious and vegan, having been prepared by renowned chef, Arthur Potts Dawson.
Jarvis Smith, creator of the P.E.A. Awards commented recently: “With the pivotal COP26 in Glasgow looming ahead, there has never been a more critical time for sustainability heroes to get noticed. Like tonight’s winners, the P.E.A. Awards have been leading the way by celebrating climate solutions for over a decade. It’s high time our government started learning from those of us who are actually taking real action to safeguard our long-term future.”
Regarding the vegan food options at COP26, Tracey comments: “Quite frankly, it’s shocking, moreover for a climate crisis conference, it’s deeply disappointing. A couple of my colleagues are penning pieces on it as we speak, so I’m not going to steal their thunder, but it’s nothing to write home about. We’re all thanking goodness for the brilliant independent vegan cafes out on the fringe, including Mayze on Argyle Street, where colleague Lauren and I enjoyed a cracking lunch and a spot of welcome WiFi.“
Tracey continues: “The facts are simple: amazing vegan food is easy to create, it’s frequently cheaper, nothing died to land on your plate and it gives the lightest squeeze to planet earth to produce. What’s not to love? I am thrilled to have won the award for talking about the positives of plant-based food and lifestyles. Our little international reforestation charity has been built on plant-based foundations and I love helping our corporate partners embrace plant-based options. Our fundraising apparel is vegan friendly and 100% organic cotton and we serve vegan food in the office and at fundraising events. It’s a beautiful way to work and live.“
