We have a wonderful possie of Facebook friends and supporters and it’s not hard to guess that many of them share our passion for the environment.
Today, Annie Franklin dropped our CEO Tracey a line to say her friend’s son, Ruarí, is part of a group of primary school students from the Cappabue National School and they’ve written and recorded a phenomenal song and video about taking care of the planet: ‘One Small Change’.
Cappabue National School is a mixed, two-teacher school under the patronage of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Cork. The school is nestled at the foot of the Shehy Mountains, eleven miles north-east of Bantry, Co. Cork. On their Facebook page, they say: ‘Huge thanks to Garry @GMCBeats for working with our students on writing/recording this cracker and to past-pupil Elaine Lucey for the amazing video work. Beat by Chuki Beats.’
Tracey commented: “There’s no doubt about it, today’s young students are the most important people in the room right now! They will become the innovators of tomorrow. They’ll help carve the necessary routes to a more sustainable future based on their experiences coping with our rapidly warming climate.”
“I had such a lump in my throat watching this video; it needs to be shouted about from the rooftops. Well done everyone at Cappabue, I’m sure the whole school were behind the project and it was clearly a phenomenal amount of work to coordinate. I wish I could pop in and see you all to say, ‘Well done’ in person. You’re truly inspirational and I’m sure One Small Change will have positive ripples far beyond your original hopes and dreams. I look forward to hearing what you’re planning to do next!”
